RECENT BOOKING: MURDER AT THE MYSTERY PARTY (Lead)
Introduce a scary Egyptian mummy to an elementary school student, and you may have to look for a therapist. In the case of actress Catherine Toribio, who co-starred in PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE MARKED ONES, the experience of seeing The Mummy when she was in 6th grade convinced her that acting was in her cards. Already fascinated with Egyptian culture and Egyptology, she discovered that by becoming an actress, she could explore any world she pleased.
A native of Rockaway Beach, New York, Toribio started out with producing and directing ambitions, but she began to focus on acting at Beach Channel High School. Fluent in Spanish (her parents are both natives of the Dominican Republic), Toribio started her professional career in commercials before she got her first break, recording the promos for QUIERO MIS QUINCES, the Spanish version of MTV’s hit series, My Super Sweet Sixteen.
In high school she was a flying acrobatic cheerleader. After graduating she began studying the Meisner acting technique in New York City, along with classes in improvisation and working on camera.
At 17, she appeared as “Serenity,” the best friend of a troubled teenager going through pregnancy in the HBO Showcase film, THE CHOICES WE MAKE. Toribio was able to bring something special to her character because her own best friend was going through a similar experience.
Since coming to Los Angeles, she’s making tons of fans and has earned parts in MAJOR CRIMES, Disney XD’s KIRBY BUCKETS, and a recurring role on BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL and the hit series JANE THE VIRGIN. She has also been in numerous national spots.
Toribio, who counts Eva Longoria, Charlize Theron, Meryl Streep, and Jennifer Lawrence as influences, is looking forward to more serious roles in the future.
