Leah Bonnema is a stand-up comedian, actor and writer who has been seen on THE LATE SHOW WITH STEPHEN COLBERT, DON’T TELL COMEDY, CHRIS GETHARD PRESENTS, Oculus & AXS TV’s GOTHAM COMEDY LIVE, IFC’s COMEDY CRIB, TruTV’s COMEDY KNOCKOUT, Elite Daily’s SCHLEP and WHY IT'S OKAY TO BE A SINGLE GIRL ON VALENTINE'S DAY, Broadway Video’s THE HENKLE FACTOR WITH MICHAEL CHE, Vh1’s 100 GREATEST SERIES and was a regular on Buzzfeed’s DID YOU SEE THIS?! Huffington Post named her one of their Favorite Female Comedians and she was on ‘The America Stands Up’ Showcase at The International Glasgow Comedy Festival.
Leah has had the honor of performing for our troops overseas, touring with Lizz Winstead’s LADY PARTS JUSTICE and has been featured in The New York Comedy Festival, The Lucille Ball Comedy Fest at The National Comedy Center, Politicon, The Women in Comedy Festival, Bumbershoot, AfroPunkFest, Netflix is a Joke, and at The Kennedy Center in Washington DC for The District of Comedy Festival.
SOLVING LEAH, a half-hour comedic detective series that Leah wrote, starred in and produced with Frankenmel Films, was an *Official Selection* of The New York Television Festival and The Portland Film Festival. Leah costarred & cowrote THE DAWNS, a short that was directed by Corinne Fisher (Guys We F*&@ed) that was an *Official Selection* of the Broad Humor Film Fest, The Oregon Shorts Fest and the Austin Comedy Film Festival. She’s had two solo shows, ALWAY WITH THE HEART & NEVER WITH THE BRAIN directed by Karen Sommers at The BMCC Theater and WAKE UP AND YELL AT ME which had three runs at The PIT. Leah was delighted to be a part of Mark Altman’s staged performance of THE VOYAGE HOME for the 30th Anniversary of Star Trek at The Javits Center and she performed the closing monologue for A MEMORY, A MONOLOGUE, A RANT AND A PRAYER at The Manhattan Theater for V-Day. The NY Times said Leah is “one of the city’s most consistently excellent young comics” and The Scotsman called her “A force of nature.”
Leah published a romcom novel, THE HOLIDAY BREAKDOWN, which she wrote during the pandemic. The book received a shout out on KATIE COURIC’s site as a favorite of influencer and comedian ROBON SCHALL. Leah just directed, MY CATHOLIC GUILT, which was nominated for *Best New Media* at the Conquering Disability with Film Festival in Las Vegas. She is the cohost of the popular podcast, WERE YOU RAISED BY WOLVES?!, which made iTunes “New & Noteworthy” list, was nominated for a Webby in two categories (including *BEST HOSTS*), and was featured in the LA Times. She recently HEADLINED the VAIL COMEDY FESTIVAL and is recipient of this year’s fellowship of the Climate Comedy Cohort from American University and Generation 180. She was featured at 2023 The Hollywood Climate Summit.
Leah is new to Los Angeles from New York where she was working nightly in top comedy clubs Raised in rural Maine by two potters, Leah graduated from McGill University with Honors and subsequently studied at American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She loves her dog, mystery novels and Gandalf.
