Cindera Che
Cindera Che is an Asian American actor and dancer with a career spanning over thirty years in film and television. She has appeared in notable shows such as ABC's FRESH OFF THE BOAT, NBC's ZOEY'S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST, and ABC's LETHAL WEAPON, and has worked with acclaimed creators such as Alan Yang, Ryan Murphy, and Francis Ford Coppola.
Cindera’s journey as a performer began at the age of twelve when she appeared on a weekly television variety show in her hometown of Taipei, Taiwan. In 1977, her family relocated to the United States after her father purchased the iconic House of Pies restaurant in Orange County. It was in the United States that she landed her first professional job on ABC's FANTASY ISLAND.
Some of her most memorable dancing jobs include: her distinct role as the Madame in Michael Jackson’s SMOOTH CRIMINAL music video, partnering with Donald O’Connor in OUT TO SEA, pop-locking in BREAKIN' 2 ELECTRIC BOOGALOO, and dancing on the freeway in LA LA LAND.
In addition to her on-camera work, Cindera has been an influential teacher and performance coach for over 35 years. She was on staff at The Edge Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles, as well as teaching in conventions and workshops that took her all over the U.S. and abroad. She created the Movement For Actors training program at The Edge Performing Arts Center. Her skills of turning non-dancers into expressive movers landed her an appearance on DANCING WITH THE STARS coaching Kristy Yamaguchi in her winning performance.
One of her favorite choreography projects was creating a finale for a cast of 750 inmates from the renowned dancing inmates of Cebu, the Philippines, for the film DANCE OF THE STEELBARS. This experience allowed her to explore the idea that movement transcends all human barriers, a belief she strives to bring to all of her work.
