Derek Roberts
RECENT BOOKINGS: The Blacklist, City On a Hill, Passing (film)
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Derek has been an entertainer nearly all of his life. Whether he’s acting or singing, Derek has a natural ability to win over an audience, by displaying a sense of genuineness in his performance. He began his career as a singer, and credits the highlight of his singing career to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he sang the National Anthem in front of 40,000 people.
Derek captured the lead role in his first ever stage play, and the responses he received helped solidify his decision to put the microphone aside, (but not too far) and pursue acting as a career. After studying with and adapting Eric Morris’ process, Derek gained early success in television by landing a role in LIFETIME’S hit series “ARMY WIVES”. Since then, Derek’s hard work, life experience, and training has afforded him guest star television and film roles, ranging from a detective on MTV’S “SCREAM”, a Nigerian doctor on CBS’S “ZOO”, a pastor on SUNDACE TV’S “HAP AND LEONARD”, to a lead role opposite Isaiah Washington, in BET’S ground breaking TV movie about Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott’s, entitled: “BEHIND THE MOVEMENT”.
Derek is a constant reminder that perseverance and dedication, is essential to pursuing and achieving your goals!
