Matthew Hancock



Matthew Hancock is an award winning stage, film, and television actor.  He was born in Columbus, Ohio spending much of his childhood between there and New York.   He first cut his teeth in New York as an actor in the popular daytime dramas ALL MY CHILDREN and GUIDING LIGHT.


Matthew’s core mission as an artist is to expose the deepest depths of our shared humanity.  Matthew has recurred in the Showtime series, I’M DYING UP HERE produced by Jim Carrey, the Kerry Washington produced FIVE POINTS Series on Facebook Watch, and the Daytime Emmy nominated, Issa Rae produced series GIANTS. Other notable appearances include roles on SEAL TEAMBOSCH: LEGACYNCIS, KIDDING, WESTWORLD, PRINCE OF PEORIA, and SNOWFALL.


On stage, He received rave reviews for his portrayal of Oshoosi Size in Academy award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney’s THE BROTHER SIZE.  He originated the role of Carson in the Musical version of Ike Holter’s Hit THE WALL at the Los Angeles LGBT Center.  Matthew has had the opportunity to perform on some of the most esteemed stages in the United States.  The Tony award winning American Repertory Theatre, The Kennedy Center, Denver Center for The Performing Arts, The Fountain Theatre, Tony award winning South Coast Repertory Theatre, and The Geffen Playhouse.  Matthew is a volunteer partner at the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center, doing community outreach as well as acting.


When not on set or on stage Matthew loves to exercise his musical alter ego Michael Siren.   He has trained exclusively at the Imagined life Studios in Los Angeles.  Matthew holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Adelphi University as well as a certificate from The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts,  School of Film and Television.  He is a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award Winner, LA Weekly Stage Raw Winner,  Henry Award Winner (from the Colorado theatre guild), California Women’s Film Festival Best Actor Nominee, NAACP Theatre Award nominee, and LA Stage Alliance Ovation Nominee.
