Terry Walters was born and raised in New York where she began her professional career in the theatre, as Terry Urdang. She got her start on the stage. Some of her favorite jobs were “Robin” in GODSPELL, “Trixie” in Erin Cressida Wilson’s DAKOTA’S BELLY WYOMING and “Gail” in George Walkers’ play, BETTER LIVING, with Olympia Dukakis and Rob Morrow. The play was directed by Max Mayer at The Powerhouse Theatre at Vassar with the NY Stage & Film Company, an amazing company where she has continued to work.
Terry ventured into television through soap operas where she worked on LOVING, ALL MY CHILDREN, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, and AS THE WORLD TURNS. One of her favorite roles was “Anita Miller” from LOVING, where her character had a crush Professor Donovan, played by Brian Cranston.
Terry’s film debut was playing Woody Allen’s “sound girl” in CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS and next she starred in Rob Morrow’s directorial and writing debut THE SILENT ALARM, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
She headed out west and in a short span of time landed over 50 national commercials, dozens of roles on television & film and voiceover work.
Terry easily transitions from drama to comedy as her credits show: from BONES, SOUTHLAND, and HEARTLAND, to CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, and Netflix’s SANTA CLARITA DIET. She enjoys playing a wide range of characters– from Blue collar diner Waitress to Republican Senator, from Soccer Mom to Killer Mom and from sweet Nurse to sex addict. In one of her favorite roles, Terry played a homeless woman in the award winning film PLAY DATE. Another stand out role was, Linda, the coffee shop manager, and Emma Stone’s boss, in Damien Chazelle’s LA LA LAND. While on the set of LA LA LAND, Terry met Olivia Hamilton who created the webseries FACETIMING WITH MOMMY, where Terry and Olivia play mother and daughter. It is currently being developed beyond the web. Terry recently was a guest on the HBO show EUPHORIA as Mrs. Applegate, the drama teacher and is currently featured in the Annapurna produced, interactive game, TELLING LIES. Terry just finished a guest starring role on CBS’ ALL RISE and the role of our hero’s Mom in MY DEAD DAD, an indie feature to be released in 2020.
Terry’s siblings are also in the entertainment industry. Her sister, Leslie Urdang is a film producer, her other sister, Robin Urdang, is an Emmy winning music supervisor, and her brother, Andrew Kramer, is a movie deal-maker in the film world and in the family!
